The .SE country-code domain name extension was started in 1986 and given to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration process was pretty restrictive, so a very low number of domain names were ordered. Individuals were allowed to buy solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a must, i.e. merely Swedish persons, business entities and organizations were able to obtain a dot SE domain.
