FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol – a very popular method of transmitting web files between a home computer and a web server. Using an FTP program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can make a connection to the server and see its content in one pane, while the files on your computer will be displayed in another pane within the main program window. All you’ll have to do to send files or whole directories in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. File Transfer Protocol is preferred by plenty of users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each one can be limited to connect to just one single directory on the server, so a web designer, for example, can carry out their job without accessing any other content in the web hosting account. Furthermore, the availability of different FTP accounts will also allow you to build multiple websites with web design tools like Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their specific folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Web Hosting

You will be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you want with each of the cloud web hosting service that we are offering, since we’ve decided not to limit this feature. Thus, you can run numerous websites at the same time or provide other people with access to separate folders. As soon as a particular job has been done and you do not want that individual to be able to access your website files anymore, you can edit the password for the FTP account in question or you can simply delete that account with several clicks and quit worrying about anybody using it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all shared packages, will allow you to check the full list of the existing FTP accounts listed in alphabetical order. It takes just one single click of the mouse to manage various options for any of them – to modify the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to set up a separate FTP account for each one of them, as we haven’t put a limit on this service with any of our semi-dedicated server packages. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-work-with Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also view the full list of all the accounts that you’ve created, along with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If necessary, you will be able to modify the password for a given account or to modify its access path with several clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account with no effort if you don’t need it anymore – for instance, if you have hired a designer who is finished with the Internet site and you don’t want them to be able to access your files anymore. For convenience’s sake, we’ve made different how-to video clips, that will help you administer your FTP accounts without effort if you have never used a website hosting plan previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers

None of the VPS servers offered by our company includes a limitation on the maximum number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any moment, so you can set up a separate FTP account for each site hosted on the VPS, no matter if it is under a domain or subdomain. Besides, it doesn’t matter which Control Panel you’ll select when you register – Hepsia or cPanel, since an FTP server will be set up on your VPS during the installation of any of them. In case you want several users to be able to establish an FTP connection to the very same folder with their own login credentials, for instance, it’ll take a few clicks to set up a different FTP account for each one of them. Deleting an active account or modifying the directory that it can access is just as easy and you will not run into any complication, even if you do not have any previous experience in such matters.
